Why go to Okinawa to train, save thousands by training with Hanshi Cullen
Mr. Michael Galose trained with Hanshi Cullen for 11 years and was his emissary to Okinawa. He made trips for a week or two to the motherland of karate for three years running. Mr. Galose was quoted as saying " I have been to Okinawa multiple times for tough intensive training there, weeks at a time with all the best, Higaonna, Kuba, all of them; and Hanshi Cullen is as knowledgeable on kata, bunkai and all other aspects of Goju karate as every one of them. I guess I had to travel to Okinawa to find this out for myself. We are extremely lucky to have a sensei of this caliber teaching us daily": We thank Mr. Galose for his most gracious comments and wish him well as has made a decision to align himself with Higaonna Sensei's organization..
A story about Alex....
On May 10th, 2004 Alex was injured in a 18 Wheeler vs a car collision. He suffered head trauma in this accident. The trauma resulted in Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder with Aggressive tendencies. In October of 2006 Alex joined the tiny tigers group . The Academy of Martial Arts has given him the ability to manage life without such extreme frustration, self confidence to attempt new things, and a fun environment to exert his built up energy. Alex is now able to sit and enjoy stories, activities, and programs. --- Kelly C.(Forest)
Trey had trouble with behavior, focus and academics.....
My son started having behavior problems in school and at home. So we heard about Goju karate at the Academy and decided to try it to see if it would help him with the discipline, listening, and him trying to focus at school. Trey was in classes for 2 years. The first six months since he started karate with Sensei Cullen and the instructors I saw a difference in his behavior, academics, and discipline. All of the instructor’s at the academy did a wonderful job with Trey and it helped my son greatly. It was like seeing a whole new child. – Jamie (Findlay, Oh)
A note of thanks and comment on students improvement
Dear Sensei Cullen,
Thank you again so much for visiting our class! The students had a wonderful afternoon, and more importantly, I feel that they learned a lot of valuable information from you. I can easily see how students would love to come to your classes:)
I have really enjoyed having Matthew in class this year! He was a new student to our school at the beginning of the year, and he has fit in so nicely with the class! I have noticed a great deal of improvement in his self confidence, his interaction with the other students, and his active participation in class!!! I have no doubt that Matthew's improvements in school are due in large part, to the knowledge and skills he has learned at your karate school. I am looking forward to seeing just how far Matthew will go!! The sky's the limit:)
Thanks Again for taking the time to come to Trinity! Please come back any time!!!

I love karate because it makes me more serious, it makes me set goals to be a black belt and it's fun because you learn new things. I really like the sparring. Sincerely, Your green belt Michael. (editors note: Michael received his black belt in May of 2010 and has re-enrolled for another year at the Academy. (Second editors note: Mr. Cook, now approaching 18 years of age, has become an adult black belt, and is listed on the instructors page as an assistant instructor. Good things come to those that work hard and achieve their goals. Michael has been with us at the Academy for 11 years now)
Asa talks karate.
Karate has meant a lot to me over the last two years. It is hard work but I am glad to be part of it. It has helped me to be more flexible and that it is important to follow directions. Sensei Cullen is an awesome instructor, he is one of the best. He also believes that it is important to have good grades. He requested to see our report cards when they came out. The main thing Sensei Cullen has taught me was respect and what it means.
Zachary loves it
I love karate. It has helped me learn self-defense and how to be more sure of myself. I have become more focused and to be extra careful to be respectful. Karate is FUN and I learn something new every week. My body and mind are healthier and stronger. My instructors are great. (Editors note: Zach has been with the Academy for about 8 years, has achieved his Jr. BlackBelt and now his adult BlackBelt and assists teaching Karate Kid classes. His bio is on the instructors page.)
ABOUT OUR CHIEF INSTRUCTORS TEACHING STYLE
Quotes from other instructors:
"I haven't learned anything new at a seminar in twenty years. But what I have learned from your theories of true attack and defense opened my eyes to the way I train and will change my approach to it for ever. You are a true Goju Ryu Master!" ---- (spoken to Hanshi Cullen after teaching a seminar on the Martial Oceans Martial Arts Cruise in 2004. Hanshi Alexander was another of the invited instructors. Since that day, the two master instructors have been best friends and scuba diving buddies as well as teach at each others summer camps annually.)

I think that I just witnessed one of the finest 4 hour seminars I have ever seen. The way you do what you do is amazing baby, and I love it! ---- (After observing this seminar along with Hanshi Cullen assisting Hanshi Raven teach his 4 hour judo seminar, Mr. Raven presented Sensei Cullen with his 6th Dan in Judo that same day. )

Training with Sensei Cullen really helped develop my grappling skills. I was able to take second place at my first grappling tournament and in November I took first place in the second tournament I competed in. Sensei Cullen has great knowledge about the martial art of judo and does a extraordinary job in teaching his skills. I would recommend Sensei Cullen's school to anyone who is serious about improving their grappling technique. (WIlkes Barre PA) editor's note: Soon after this testimonial came in, Justin took 2nd place in the ALL - PHILADEPHIA JUDO CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009 and a BRONZE medal at the Pennsylvania State Judo Championships 2009... way to go Justin! ---(editors note: Justin was promoted to black belt the following year and has since won Gold at both the Philly and State Judo championships. His waza has proven solid)
